Welcome to BASAKU
We unite Bamasaaba students at Kumi University through culture, leadership, and community—from hiking Wanale Hill and local tours to celebrating Imbalu and building lasting connections.
Our University – Kumi University
BASAKU is based at Kumi University, in Kumi District, Eastern Uganda—a university built on Christian values and quality, affordable higher education.
Kumi University was founded by Korean missionary couple Hyeong Lyeol Lyu and Mrs. Minja Lee in 1999, growing from the Africa Leaders’ Training Institute (ALTI) established in 1996. The University was approved by the Government of Uganda in 2004 and is set in the scenic countryside of Teso, near the famous Nyero Rock Paintings. It offers undergraduate programmes in full-time, weekend, and external modes, with a focus on godliness and excellence.
